DINGHY-TOW FOR POWER BOATS

DAVRON MARINE PRODUCTS INC. has two models of DINGHY-TOW for power boats. These units use the proven technology that was developed for the original sail-boat model of DINGHY-TOW. Both of the power boat models have two main features:

TOWING of dinghy with bow in the water and stern raised
STORAGE of dinghy with bow pivoted in an upright position and supported with a stainless steel pole.

MODEL# 1
Model# 1 is designed to be mounted on boats with or without swim platforms, with a low stern and with open cockpits. Two brackets are mounted approximately 24” apart on the swim platform so that the towing assembly can be attached. One other bracket is mounted either on the top of the transom or on a vertical surface at the top of the transom. This bracket supports the lifting line mechanism. All three of these brackets come with backing plates. A 47” stainless steel pole with snap fittings on both ends is also supplied to support the bow of the dinghy when it is in the storage position. A pad -eye is mounted on the floor of the dinghy, near the bow. One end of the support pole snaps into this pad-eye and the other to the stern bracket

Both the towing assembly and the lifting lines are held in place with quick pins for easy removal and storage.

MODEL# 2
Model # 2 is a single unit that mounts on a swim platform. This unit is best suited for power boats with aft cabins or raised aft decks. It consists of two larger brackets with backing plates which mount on the swim platform. A stand mounts on these two brackets to support lifting lines. The towing assembly also mounts on these same brackets. This unit is completely self-contained and removable from these brackets by quick release pins. A support pole, as described in model # 1 above, is also provided in the kit.

In both kits, transom brackets along with backing plates are provided for the dinghy transom. These mount either side of the outboard motor. A lifting line assembly is available to pivot heavier dinghies into the storage position.

FEATURES
TOWING
When DINGHY-TOW is mounted on the center of the swim platform or stern, the dinghy can be towed with the stern elevated and the bow in water with the outboard motor still mounted on the transom of the dinghy. Lowering and releasing the dinghy from this position can be done quickly and easily from the swim platform.

STORAGE
Lighter dinghies with plywood floors can usually be pivoted up into the storage position with the single line provided in the kit. For heavier rigid bottom dinghies, an optional 3:1 tackle is available from DAVRON MARINE PRODUCTS. If the outboard motor is tipped up and locked on the transom of the dinghy before the dinghy is pivoted up into the storage position, there is no need to remove the outboard motor.

PICTURES (Model 2)
The following pictures are an installation of Dinghy-Tow on a Neptunus 43. See below for links to Model 1 pictures.

Dinghy in upright (storage) position. Note that the motor remains on the dinghy at all times. Notice that this installation is off-center -- this means that the dinghy must remain in storage position while cruising. Center-mounting allows the dinghy's bow to remain in the water while towing.

Side view of dinghy in storage position. The poles snap into brackets on the dinghy transom. The stern of the dinghy is then elevated using the lifting line and then the bow is pivoted up and rests on a pole that snaps into the inside bow of the dinghy and the support stand. Notice the four brackets mounted to the swim platform in the right pictures (backing plates included). Quick release fasteners allow all other hardware to be easily removed when not in use.

From left to right these are: Bow Lifting Line (to pivot bow of dinghy up into storage position), Lifting Line (to elevate dinghy's stern out of the water), Support Pole (to hold dinghy in position when in storage position). Notice that the outboard motor gas tank can be stored on the swim platform under the support stand. The gas tank could also be strapped into the dinghy and left permanently.

The right picture shows the bow lifting line snapped into the eye inside the bow of the dinghy (the other end of this line is snapped into the Support Pole - see picture above).
